nominal legal

Privacy policy

Last updated: August 17, 2026

Overview

This placeholder privacy policy describes, in general terms, how nominal handles information across kinesis, hermes, archon, eris and obex. Replace this section with your finalized legal copy before launch.

Information We Collect

Account details (name, email, billing info), usage data, IP addresses, and information you provide when configuring or using a nominal product, limited to what each product needs to function. This also includes container and machine logs generated while running workloads on the platform, our own internal analytics events, records of actions you take to manage your infrastructure (e.g. deployments, scaling, config changes), and any support tickets or messages you send us.

Cookies and Analytics

We use Google Analytics to understand how the platform is used and to improve it. Google Analytics may set cookies and collect information such as your IP address, device and browser type, and pages visited. You can control cookies through your browser settings, and where required by law we will ask for your consent before enabling non-essential analytics.

How We Use Information

To operate and improve our products, secure your account through obex, process payments through hermes, debug and maintain infrastructure using logs and system data, respond to support requests, and communicate important service updates.

Payment Processing

Payments are processed by Stripe and PayPal. We do not store full payment card numbers on our own servers. Information you provide during checkout (such as billing name, address, and payment details) is handled directly by these processors under their own privacy policies, which we encourage you to review.

Data Sharing

We do not sell your data. Information is shared only with the processors necessary to operate a given product, such as payment or infrastructure providers. If you use an application built by a third-party developer on our platform, that app owner may receive data related to your use of their app (such as usage events or account identifiers) as needed for the app to function. App owners are independently responsible for how they handle any data shared with them, and their own privacy practices may differ from ours.

Third-Party Integrations

Some features are provided through integrations with other services, such as Discord bots. These integrations may involve their own terms of service and privacy policies set by the third party, separate from this one. We encourage you to review those terms before enabling an integration.

Data Retention

Data is retained for as long as your account is active, or as required to comply with legal and tax obligations, such as those covered by hermes. Logs (container, machine, and analytics event logs) are retained for a limited operational window before being rotated out, except where longer retention is required for security, billing, or legal purposes.

Data Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect account, infrastructure, and log data from unauthorized access. No system is completely secure, and we encourage you to use strong credentials and enable available account protections.

Your Rights

You may access, correct, export, or delete your data, subject to the retention requirements described above. Depending on your location, you may have additional rights under applicable law, such as the right to object to certain processing or to lodge a complaint with a data protection authority.

Self-Hosted Deployments

When you self-host kinesis or archon, event and infrastructure data processed on your own hardware never touches nominal servers unless you explicitly configure it to.

Children's Privacy

Our products are not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age required by applicable law.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be communicated through the platform or by email before they take effect.
